KYC (Know Your Customer)

All licensed and regulated casinos are required by law to verify their customers at some point. This means they’re required by law to acquire documentation that verifies who you are, where you live, and that you own the payment method used.

They have to do this, to prevent users that are underage, users that are from countries they restrict, and to prevent users to steal a credit card/payment solution from someone else, and use their money on gambling.

The KYC is also used to prevent money laundering, ID theft and to simply keep their players safe.

Documents used for KYC Verification

When verifying their customers, the casinos must verify some different types of documents, which you need to provide. If you fail to provide the documentation needed, they are allowed to deny your withdrawal or even terminate your account.

Usually casinos require you to verify:

  • Proof of address
  • Proof of ID
  • Proof of payment methods

Proof of address

Casinos need to prove you live where you say you do. This means you have to provide some documentation showing that you reside on the address you provided to the casino when you signed up on their platform.

When you have to prove your address, the casinos require that the documentation has both your name and address on it. Not all documentation with your name and address on it is approved by the casino, they only approve documentation such as utility bills, bank statements, credit card statements or any other official document sent to you by your government.

Most casinos require that the documentation is no older than 3 months old, when used for documentation.

Proof of ID

To make sure you are who you say you are and that you are the age you say you are, since you have to prove it with a proof of ID.

Most casinos only accept government issued ID such as your passport or driver’s license. They also require the photo to be clearly visible, and that no information is covered or manipulated in any way. Your ID has to be valid on the date you send it in.

Proof of Payment Methods

When you’re depositing on a casino, there’s usually no problem, but when you have to withdraw, you often have to verify the payment method you’ve used. The verification process is different, depending on what type of payment you’ve used when depositing.

We have listed some of the most regular depositing methods:

Neteller or Skrill:

One of the most common ways to deposit nowadays is by using Neteller or Skrill. If you choose to do so, it’s also one of the easiest ways to verify your account. To verify it, you just have to take a screenshot which is showing the email, account number/ID and your name.

Credit or Debit card:

If you’ve used a credit or debit card to make a deposit on the casino, you have to take a picture of the card used, but you are allowed to cover some of the numbers. You need to show the first 6 and the last 4 digits, your name and the expiry date.

Make sure all 4 corners are visible, and that all information needed is clear and easy to read.

Bank account:

If you’ve used a direct wire transfer, you can verify you own the bank account by sending in a bank statement or a screenshot from your online banking account. The bank statement or screenshot has to show your name and account details.
